I have a four month old laptop.  A couple of weeks ago, i turned it off and went to bed.  The next day when I turned it back on, it would not load windows.  I called tech support for my laptoip brand and they told me to do alt-f10 to do a system recovery.  I started the recovery and it got to 74% then gave me this error code.  I then put in the recovery discs and tryed to do a system recovery that way.  It would not even get to 2% before giving me the same error code.  What does this error code mean and how can I fix it?

Hi  tstoneman78,

What is the make and model number of your computer?

Factory Restore is a favored condition of a computer as configured by the computer manufacturer and is specific to that manufacturer. This process will put the computer back to its original factory condition, data (and programs that were installed later) on the computer will be lost.

If the recovery process is not going through, am afraid you need to contact the computer manufacturer again for more specialized assistance.

Thanks and Regards:

    Hi tstoneman78,

Am afraid there is nothing much that can be done from Microsoft end to rectify this factory restore issue.

You may have to take your computer to Acer or contact a local tech shop

    Thanks and Regards

My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5251.  I have spoke to Acer support and they can't help solve the problem without sending it in.  I was just hoping that I wouldn't have to do that.
