Error code Oxc000007b

Win7 Home Premium 64bit

Suddenly I am unable to open the following programs:

IE8, Firefox 3.6, ZoneAlarm Pro, MalwareBytes.

In each case I get Error Code Oxc000007b. I have tried restarting and changing user accounts.

I have done a full scan with MSE and it only identified RegCure as potentially problematic.

Any suggestions please? Thanks in advance.

    Hi Skighpilot,

    -      What software changes did you make on the computer prior to the issue?

    Follow the methods listed below:

    Method 1:

**Step 1:**Boot intosafe modewith networking and check if the issue persists.

See Advanced startup options (including safe mode) for instructions on booting into safe mode with networking.

Step 2: If the issue does not occur in safe mode, boot your system in a clean boot state (in normal mode) to troubleshoot the issue.

See How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Note: After troubleshooting, make sure to put the computer to start as usual as mentioned in  Step 7 in the above KB article.

    Method 2:

Perform system restore to a restore point prior to the issue and see if that fixes the issue.

    Hi Gokul,

Thanks for your response and for moving my question to the correct forum.

No software changes made by me prior to the problem.

Issue persists in safe mode with networking.

Did not have a suitable restore point but did a roll-back to 28 Jan using Comodo Time Machine and this has fixed the issue. I can only think it was a Microsoft Update problem. Because of the roll-back I cannot tell from the Update History if there was an update around the time the problem arose.

Anyhow everything seems to be ok now. Thanks for your suggestions.

All oxc000007b error fixed with Microsoft .dll files.  I downloaded these files from another tech reply from Adobe.  Both of these .dll files: msvcr80.dll and mscvcr100.dll, need to placed in the .dll storage area of whichever program is not working.

    Example: C:\program files\microsoft office\office15.

    Go to http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1217411

    Download lightroom_64-Bit_dlls.zip.

I applied this fix to all my 64 bit programs with the same error such as Autodesk Maya 2014 64 bit, Adobe Lightroom 5 64bit, Adobe InDesign 64 bit, Adobe Illustrator 64 bit and Microsoft Office Pro 2013 64 bit.

You’re welcome, Skighpilot. Thanks for the feedback.

To verify if the issue was caused by an update, I’d suggest you try installing Windows updateone by one. Restart the computer after installing each update and check for the update causing the issue.

If you have any further questions, post the same at Microsoft Answers Windows 7 Forums.
