"the application has requested the runtime time to terminate in an unusual way"

Everytime I run certain programs (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, snagit, PDF reader - just to name a few) I get an error window pop  saying: "the application has requested the runtime time to terminate in an unusual way" - I am running windows 7 - I have tried to use a prior restore point to fix and then I run 'registry mechanic' - but not with success on either occasion - Note: some programs do run fine without error, but the ones that do not do not aren't from a single type supply- i.e like Adobe.

It is way too early to suggest that a repair of Windows might be on the cards, but the availability of any proved solution makes wonder if that might be the outcome?

The suggested remedies by Imran M are among the best I have seen offered and I hope they work for you.

These are my observations of this error.

Hi Jeremywiddup,

·         How long have you been facing this issue?

·         Did you make any recent changes prior to the issue?

Method 1: I would suggest you to repair .Net framework and also reinstall visual C++ redistributable package.

You may need to repair your installation of the .NET Framework if you upgrade your operating system or if the current installation of the .NET Framework becomes corrupted.

Refer the following Microsoft article and follow the steps mentioned to repair the .Net Framework installation:

How to repair an existing installation of the .NET Framework

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306160

Also re-install visual C++ redistributable package

Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=a7b7a05e-6de6-4d3a-a423-37bf0912db84

Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64)

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=bd512d9e-43c8-4655-81bf-9350143d5867

**Method 2:**If that does not work, create a new user account and check. If it works in a new user account, then probably your user account may have been corrupted and would need a fix.

Create a user profile

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Create-a-user-account

Now check for the issue.

Follow the below provided link to fix the corrupted user profile.
