Hello,

In our Information Security Meeting today we discussed the bug identified in this article: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/windows-10-ntfs-corruption-bug-gets-unofficial-temporary-fix/

I reproduced the bug on a test box and it caused the chkdsk to run and successfully repaired the machine.

So the bug is real and there is a possible workaround to the bug located here: https://github.com/OSRDrivers/i30Flt/releases/tag/v1.0

I am looking for some general knowledge about hw safe a fix like that would be if we deployed it. I am also wondering if there is any timeline on a fix from MS.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I didn't found any released information about this issue on Microsoft official website: Known issues and notifications

I would feedback the issue to Microsoft through our channel, you also could feedback it through "Feedback Hub" on your side. I think Microsoft develop department engineer will test and analysis the issue if it is a potential bug, or just occur on specific environment. But thank you for your thread. And appreciate for your test update if you have time as Ameri says.

Bests,

This doesn't cause data lost from my tests and it will just cause running System File Check at startup.
Microsoft is aware of this issue and is working on fixing it.
