I'm running Windows 7 Ulitmate x64.  WIndows update fails to download the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 for x64-based Systems (KB976932).  Followed the instructions for repairing and cleaning up the directories but it still fails to download the kit. Have tried this numerous times and rebooted but still no luck.

Gave up on that and downloaded the sp1 kit from microsoft downloads (7601.17514.101119-1850_Update_Sp_Wave1-GRMSP1.1_DVD.iso).  Run the setup.exe. It runs for a while and eventually fails with

Installation was not successful

The client of a component requested an operation which is not valid given the state of the component instance.

In the details it says

Error: ERROR_REQUEST_OUT_OF_SEQUENCE(0x80070308)

I looked up this error but see no explanation on what to do about it.
