"verify error!!" on startup

my friends computer is messing up when she turns it on she gets prompted to enter a password. then a box appears that says "setup notice: verify error!! press enter to continue." well she presses enter and it says the "setup notice: verify error!! system is shutting down." i cant figure it out and i really want to impress her lol so any help would be great thank

Hi,

1.      Since how long are you facing this issue?

2.      Did you make any changes prior to this issue?

3.      Can you able to get to the desktop?

4.      Does the error message show up after entering the password?

I would suggest you to check with safe mode and then perform clean boot and check.

    I have Windows 8.  I have not upgraded to Windows 8.1 yet.  The same "blue box" message appears on Start-up, asking for a password.  When I enter the password that I normally use I get a message that says "Setup Notice.  Verify error!!  Press ENTER to continue."  After 3 attempts, I get another message that says "System shutting down" and then it shuts down.

    I last used my computer (Toshiba laptop) on Friday and everything was working fine.  About an hour ago I tried turning my computer on and the above "blue box" message appeared.

    Im having the exact same problem. I have a toshiba laptop with windows 8..

    Ive had this problem for the past 4 hours.

    I have not made any changes prior to the issue.

    I am unable to get to the desktop.

    I see the toshiba startup screen and then i am prompted to enter the password. Upon entering the correct password, i get verify error, press enter to continue... After 3 attempts, the system shuts down...

    I also tried to enter the boot menu by pressing the correct function keys but still get the error message.

    What are my options to fix this?
