WIndows XP Pro gets error "ActiveX component can't create object"

Hi,

I have a customers machine with windows XP Pro on it. This PC is a POS station with Microsoft Retail Managment program Ver. 1.2  installed on it. This machine is starting to shoew signs of fatugie so we upgraded the hardware. Went from a ASUS MB running a P4 to a ASUS MB Running a C2Q. I Moved the disk image. Reinstalled the OS and got it reactivated. The POS sofware was working OK. No errors. all modules opened, and every thing looked good. I ran MSF Windows update and install all patches and everything still look good everything still launched with no errors. So I created a fresh hard disk image and all still looked good.

I return the unit to the customer and hook it up and when I launch the Microsoft Store Operations POS module I get this error " ActiveX component can't create object" If I try to launch the next module Microsoft Store Operations Manager I receive the exact same message. If I launch the Microsoft Store Operations Administration I get the same error. Not sure what is causing the error. She has a USB scanner and a USB Star receipt printer attached to the machine along with a modem connected to the serial port. Her PC Charge program works correctly connecting to the modem and initializing it properly. The company that sold and customized the Microsoft POS software is no longer around so we can not get any answers from them. Is their a way to determine what is causing the problem and fix it without backing out all the installed MSF patches? Replacing the software is not an option seeing as this package cost nearly 10 grand. Any ideas or help.

Thanks, Mark

    HI,

I have looked at your links answers of posibilities and I don't think they apply.  The microsoft programs are using MSSQL not Access on the units for the data base. It appears this retail product was created around 2003 and I believe office 2000 on the machine.
