Question

when i click on int explorer in the quick start menu, it reads   x catastrophic  failure http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?link ID=139460 so no int explorer, im not really fussed about that because ive been using  firefox 5 ,in saying that its a new windows 7 that i  had installed from using XP, so i wanted to keep all updates up to date,  dont know if this prob is linked to the error code 66A message i get when updates try to install, im  only on my L plates in the computer user skills dept,i can only assume ive  clicked a couple of tabs too many where i shouldnt have ,,PLZ HELP,its doin my head in bad,,,,,,,,

1.      Have you tried to open Internet explorer from start menu?

Error code 66A is related to installation of  .Net framework update.

To fix this issue follow the Methods given below.

Method: 1

Set the computer to clean boot for troubleshooting.

To set the computer in clean boot follow the steps from the below mentioned link:

**Note:**After checking in clean boot, follow step: 7 from the article to reset the computer to normal boot.

Perform the steps from the following link while the computer is in clean boot state.

For Internet Explorer issue perform the following troubleshooting methods:

Boot the computer in Safe mode with Networking and try to open Internet Explorer.

Also open Internet Explorer in No Add-on mode and check how it works.

Follow the steps given below to open Internet Explorer in No Add-on mode.

a.       Click Start

b.      Go to All Programs

c.       Click on Accessories

d.      Select System Tools

e.       Then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).

If that doesn’t work then I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall Internet Explorer from Windows Features On or Off.

2. Click on "Turn Windows features On or Off".
3. Browse to the Internet Explorer and uncheck the mark in front of Internet Explorer.
4. Restart the computer

Follow the steps to reinstall Internet Explorer. ****1. Go to Start and in the search type "Turn Windows features On or Off".

2. Click on "Turn Windows features On or Off".
3. Browse to Internet Explorer and place a check mark in front of Internet Explorer.
4. Restart the Computer.

Try to open Internet Explorer from start menu and check how it works.
