this is great. I solved my problem but I wondered whether to turn off direct draw will cause any problems?

    Hi,

Disabling "Direct Draw" acceleration in the dxdiag.exe panel under the display tab (Start -> Run -> dxdiag) has resolved many users facing the same issue.

    You may also try that.

    a)   Click Start, click Run, type dxdiag, and then click OK.

    b)   On the Display tab, verify that DirectDraw Acceleration and Direct3D Acceleration are selected under DirectX Features.

    c)    If either of these lines shows an enabled status, click Disable for that line.

    d)   If multiple video adapters are installed in your computer, repeat step 2 for each Display tab in the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.

Note: Re-enable it if you play anything else, as you are disabling all 3D.
