that doesn't help right now as I am typing this the task bar is hidden but I have the taskbar locked

    RE : suggestion #1.

move your cursor past the bottom of the screen > taskbar will pop up. Did you try that and did it pop up ?

If yes, did you go through ..... Properties >  Taskbar tab > UN-check Auto-hide the taskbar > Apply > OK

    RE : suggestion #2

    Have you tried it ?

when I open any window my task bar disappears how do I keep it showing

    1. move your cursor past the bottom of the screen > taskbar will pop up. Yes ?

Right click on an open space of the taskbar > click " Lock the Taskbar " > click Properties > Taskbar tab > UN-check Auto-hide the taskbar > Apply > OK

    1. If the above does not help, try this ...

Press Ctrl + Alt + Del > select Task manager > click File > click New Task (Run....) > in the Open box, type explorer> OK

Is the taskbar back on ?

If yes, make sure you " lock the taskbar ".
