changing to new computer

just got new computer.  can I leave the old one up and running till i get all the info and programs changed over.  I am reusing many of the programs in the new computer but will be deleting them and destroying the old computer what issues do i need to know about as i do this change over  I have new copy of widows 7 installed

Yes, you can keep the old system running until you are comfortable and sure everything has migrated over successfully to the new computer.

You can use Windows Easy Transfer to migrate over your personal files and settings:

Your applications will need to be reinstalled. Once everything has been setup and you are satisfied, you can proceed to decommission the old system.
