Cannot open program called password dragon (uses .jar files)

I recently installed Windows 7 and the began installing my programs. I installed a program called password dragon which I use to store all of my passwords in. I checked it out and it worked fine. I then installed Nokia PC Suite for use with my cellphone and that's when password dragon stopped working.

I checked the file type association and changed it to "javaw.exe" which is what it's supposed to be. I'm using the latest java release v6_23. That didn't work. I then checked the registry for every .jar entry and took out the Nokia reference and changed it to java. Still nothing is working. I uninstalled java and reinstalled it and that didn't work either.

Does anyone have any ideas or knowledge of this problem?

The error I'm getting is "Could not find the main class: D:\Program Files\passworddragon\passworddragon.jar. Program will exit."

Thanks

I would do a system restore point to before your Password Dragon stopped working.

To choose a System Restore point,

·         From the Desktop click the Pearl (start) button

·         In the Search Field type “System Restore” and hit enter

·         Once System Restore is open, select the option “choose a different restore point” and hit next

Once on the next screen, pick a restore point to go back to when it last worked for you. Once you select the restore point, click next, then select finish, this will start the restore process.

Then verify if the Password Dragon is working. Then create a new system restore point.

Creating a System Restore point manually

Right-click on the Computer icon in the Desktop, and choose Properties

In the left pane, click System Protection

Alternately, to access the System Protection tab directly, click Start and type SystemPropertiesProtection.exe.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Click the System Protection tab, and then click Create.

In the System Protection dialog box, type a description, and then click Create.

Nest, install Nokia PC Suite. Check again if Password Dragon is working. If not working, you can contact both vendors of your programs to find out what it conflicting "

between the two programs. But you would have a system restore point to go back to.

Hope this helsp.

Thanks,

Marilyn

Doing a system restore is not an option. Too many programs were installed before I noticed the problem. I have sent several emails to Ramesh who wrote the program but no luck with him either. I entered "javaw.exe" in the "open with" as that is what it's supposed to open with but that didn't work. I went into the registry and for every instance that showed password dragon opening with Nokia, I changed it to "javaw.exe". I rebooted and then tried again. Still nothing.

Anyone else have any ideas? It would seem to me that since this is an ongoing issue with various programs that Microsoft would tell the programmers to get their act together if they want to run their programs on the Microsoft platform. I really need to access the file as I have almost 100 passwords in the file and I need to access it quickly.

Any more help would be greatly appreciated.

And if you install the program to a usb stick does it function?

And are you using the latest version of PC Suite?
