-"install update 1 of 1" message comes up every time i shutdown the computer.

  • I downloaded and installed is update manually but problem is not solved.

The automatic install of the SQL2005 SP4 may fail if the SQL instance, database, tables are locked or in use.

After the first "install-trial" the following registry key is set:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.X\Setup]

"Resume"=dword:00000001

Where X is the SQL instance number (1, 2, or so)

This key makes the installer "to remember" about the previous install attempts, so all further attempts are marked to be failed...

Set this key to "Resume"=dword:00000000 and download the appropriate patch files:

To obtain SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP4, visit the following Microsoft Web site:*http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=204633*

Start the upgrade manualy and follow the setup's messages.

    How do I stop getting the update message for 2005 express?  Was told don't need to install but get daily message that updates are ready to install.  Want other updates just not this one because of same install issues and told don't need the update.
