Hello all,

I have a device running windows 10 IoT core and was wondering if it would be possible to run hyper v to emulate Windows 10 IoT core or Windows 10X on it. Would this be possible and if so how affective would it be (my system has 2 core 4 threads at 2.33 ghz with 3gb of and 128gb of flash memory storage.)

    Hi,

As per below article, I think Windows 10 IoT core might not support Hyper-V feature.
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/virtualization/hyper-v-on-windows/reference/hyper-v-requirements

    Operating System Requirements
The Hyper-V role can be enabled on these versions of Windows 10:

    Windows 10 Enterprise
    Windows 10 Pro
    Windows 10 Education

But you can read the article and follow the guidance to check if you can run Hyper-V on your device. And if you can enable Hyper-V, I also found below threads about creating a Windows IoT Core Virtual Machine for your reference.

Hope above information can help you.

    Thanks,

I investigated this option in 2018. Although Windows 10 IoT Core could run there were issues: https://annabooks.com/Articles/Articles_IoT10Core/Windows-10-IoT-Core-VM-Version-1.2.pdf Maybe there were updates since then.
