I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and all was fine until i updated about a week ago. The computer restarted, and then logged on and all, but my aero theme seemed to be disabled. So, i right clicked on the desktop, and clicked personalize, but when the windows pens, i get this message "This page is not available in this edition of Windows" then "Windows Anytime Upgrade" below. Im the type that doesnt really look at what the update consists of, and clicks install all....so im not sure whats wrong. And, 2 days ago, i tried restoring windows to before i updated, using the Recovery CD, it worked! so windows started, aero was on and all, then it said Installs updates and Shutsdown your computer when i clicked the shut down button, giving me no choice but to update again. then again the same problem, no aero, no personalization. I tried to restore the thing again, but this time, There were no restores found....how do i fix this...? Thanks in advance! :)

Hello,

If you really think that this is the update that caused your system to react like this, you can try to uninstall the installed update. To do so

  • Click on the Start Orb and type 'Windows update' in the search box
  • select Windows update
  • and at the bottom right of the Windows update screen you will see 'Installed Updates'. Click on it
  • You will get all the updates made froma  particular date. Uninstall the update that you think caused your windows to react like this
  • Restart computer and see if it now works properly

Note: Please create a restore point before proceeding in these steps to make sure that if when you an update it makes your system unstable then you will be able to restore your computer and try a different method

Hope I was able to help you,

Regards,

Andrew

Okay..when I checked the installed updates button, the latest update was a kb97 somethIng something. I know I installed this quIte awhile back, and it was not removable. It didn't create any problems for me, so I'm sure it's not that. Also, I know that when windows installs updates, it automatically creates a restore point in case something goes wrong. However, when I tried to restore, it didn't list any...currently me coms down due to some graphics card problem, and it's failing to POST, and it keeps giving me a long beep and two short ones...I'm gonna see if I can trade the card or something. Will try to get back to this after it's fixed. Thanks again for your help:)
