Duplicate programs

I went to the Programs and Features section of the Control panel, to uninstall a program, and noticed that almost all of the programs are duplicated. The installed dates on some, as well as the versions, are the same. If I uninstall either one, the program doesn't work. Any suggestions?

It seems to be an issue with the user account. Try creating a new user account and verify if the issue still persists.

    To create a user account

    1. To open User Accounts, click the Start button ![](http://res2.windows.microsoft.com/resbox/en/Windows 7/main/4/f/4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33/4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.jpg), click Control Panel, click User Accounts and Family Safety, and then click User Accounts.
    2. Click Manage another account. ![](http://res1.windows.microsoft.com/resbox/en/Windows 7/main/1/8/18abb370-ac1e-4b6b-b663-e028a75bf05b/18abb370-ac1e-4b6b-b663-e028a75bf05b.jpg) If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    3. Click Create a new account.
    4. Type the name you want to give the user account, click an account type, and then click Create Account.

Acer Aspire 3400. There's a total of 34 duplicate sets of programs. Media, utilities, printers and various other misc programs.  Chrome, ChromePlus & Firefox are not duplicated. All factory installed programs appear twice. Same name, same installed date, same version.  Out of the 34 sets of duplicates, 15 show same name, installed date and version.  19 show various installed dates, with the duplicates of these 19 showing an installed date of 18/03/2011, while all versions remain the same. Hope this makes more sense.
