Java application is not working in Win 7 64-bit

I have a program that runs a command "java ---.jar", which stopped running when I upgraded to 64-bit Win 7.  When I go to command prompt, and type "java -version" for example, I get the error message "'java' is not recognized as internal or external command, operable program or batch file."  I suspect that this is an issue peculiar to the 64-bit version, because my laptop that is running a 32-bit version of Win 7 responds to this command very nicely.  I tried installing 64-bit version, and later 32-bit version of Java console, but neither works.  Your help will be greatly appreciated.  Hiroshi

Hi,

  1. Which application is causing this issue?
  2. Did you upgrade from 32-bit operating system to 64-bit or performed a clean installation of 64-bit Windows 7 operating system?
  3. What’s the exact error message that appears when the program stops responding or when it fails to launch?

You may follow the methods mentioned below and check if it helps:

Method 1:

Check to see if you have the latest Java updates from the following link.

Download Free Java Software

http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp

Method 2:

You may also try to re-register the jscript.dll file. This can be done by executing the following steps:

a)         Click Start.

b)         Click Run.

c)          In the Run box, type in (without quotes) "regsvr32 jscript.dll" and click on OK.

You should receive a popup says that it registration succeeded.
