explorer.exe - bad image

Hi Guys,

A few months ago, my PC went really weird, when i want to close some programs to gain more memory (for system processes to work better) explorer.exe crashes, and when i go to run (though taskmgr.exe) i type explorer.exe and it gives me this error:

"explorer.exe - bad image"

"C:\Windows\System32\BROWSERUI.DLL is either not designed to run on this system, or contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support."

I think i got it from installing skin packs, because it replaces pretty much every file in the system32 dir.

i unistalled all skin packs, but nothing works. Maybe BROWSERUI.DLL didn't get restored properly?

Thanks,

RegeditDude

    Hello RegeditDude,

I suggest you see if you have a System Restore point to before you installed the skin packs.

To choose a System Restore point,

Go to Start. Right click on computer. Go to Properties.

On the left hand side, click on System Protection.

Click on System Restore button. Click on Next.

You should see system restore points when changes to your computer were made, I have several for when Windows Updates were installed.

At the bottom left, put a check mark in "Check more restore points."

You should see more restore points.

Highlight the one you have before you you were having the problem.

Click next. This will confirm the restore point you want to install.

Once you select the restore point, click next, then select finish, this will start the restore process.

Let us know if this helps.
