access denied: problems with accidentally encrypted files

I migrated from Win7 Pro to Ultimate. In the process, some of my text files (*.txt) appear to have been encrypted (properties>General>advanced).  I (in admin account) appear as user/owner of the encryption certificate. But when I try to remove the encryption, I get error code 80092004.

In summary, I can no longer access some of my text files.

Thank you Srinivas. Unfortunately, your reply doesn't address my problem.

    1. I didn't explicitly encrypt the files in question, it happened occultly while I migrated from Win7 Pro to Win7 Ultimate.
    2. The ownership, at least nominally, of the file did not change.
    3. I am trying to access the file from an administrative account, yet Windows still asks for  administrator permission. When I click 'continue' it returns with: "An error occurred applying attributes to the file ..."
    4. When I inspect User access, it tells me that I am the user (but with a '@' rather than a '/'), and gives me a certificate footprint.
    5. The file(s) in question are ordinary tab delimited text files (*.txt) containing experimental data.

    Hi Papaworx1,

Thank you for the post. I am sorry to hear that you have issues accessing text files

I can imagine the inconvenience you have experienced. I will definitely help you with this.

    1.      Which text file are you trying to open?

    2.      Are you referring to Windows Operating System text files or personal text files?

    Please follow the methods.

    Method 1:

Try to decrypt the files and check

    Refer to the link

Encrypt or decrypt a folder or file

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Encrypt-or-decrypt-a-folder-or-file

    Note:

The first time you encrypt a folder or file, an encryption certificate is automatically created. You should back up your encryption certificate. If your certificate and key are lost or damaged and you don't have a backup, you won't be able to use the files that you have encrypted.

    Method 2:

Follow the steps from the link

How do I open a file if I get an access denied message?
