Provisioning Profile for signing Xamarin.Mac application doesn't show up in project settings

Question

I'm trying to sign an app for distribution in the app store. All of my provisioning profiles show up in Apple Developer Accounts -> View Details and i've clicked "Download All Profiles" multiple times, and i've created a project in Xcode with the same identifier as my Xamarin.Mac app and the provisioning profile shows up there automatically and is valid. I've also tried to download the provisioning profile from the apple developer site and importing it into Xcode for the project with the same identifier. And i've gone to Xcode preferences and clicked "Download Manual Profiles" multiple times. I've tried restarting visual studio and my computer several times. But the only provisioning profile i see in my project settings is an old deleted provisioning profile with another app identifier than the project currently open. Any help is appreciated.
