You are correct GFWL does have a different site from XBOX Live.

    About Live

Games for Windows - LIVE : Support Documents

If the installation stalls at 54% every time you try, as it did with the report above,

I would think the  installer became corrupt when downloading, so downloading

    an new installer may help.

Download: Games for Windows Software Setup 3.5 - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

Before installing again check Programs and Features and uninstall, if any of

them are on the list  -

-Microsoft Games for Windows - LIVE Redistributable

    -Microsoft Games for Windows Marketplace

    -Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant

    Hi Nirmal,

unfortunately  none of this three methods helps.

I tried to install Microsoft Games for Windows.

    What does this mean?:

    InstallProduct Error: 0x8007078f

    What is Code 0x8007078f?

I have Windows 7 64bit, maybe this is the problem?:

An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC90.CRT,version="9.0.21022.8",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="x86",type="win32"'.

    Hi BonoboAffe,

Thank you for keeping us posted.

Which Microsoft Game are you trying to install?

    Method 1-

Run the fixit from the article-

Diagnose and fix issues with Windows games automatically

    Method 2-

Try to install the game with administrator privileges.

    Refer the steps-

    a) Right Click on the “Setup.exe” file and select “Run as administrator”.

    Method 3-

I would recommend you to perform Clean Boot.

Putting your system in Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. You need to follow the steps from the article-

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Note: You need to follow Step 7 from the article to get the computer back to Normal Startup after performing all the troubleshooting steps.

    Hope this helps!!
