You cannot 'downgrade' a 64-bit OS to 32-bit or 'upgrade' from a 32-bit OS to a 64-bit.  Clean installation only.

Now - if you mean you are having issues installing third-party applications - that is somehting you should take up with their manufacturers.  What applications (specific manufacturer & product names and versions, please) are you trying to do this with?

For example Grand Theft Auto 1 and Fast Food Tycoon 1 (avaliable in the internet as freeware) won't INSTALL in my laptop with win 7 64 bit while my friend with the same OS can... Tried many other setup executables... some work, some just stick... no cpu consumption, no memory changes, nothing... why??? (I mean they hung, no popping windows, no errors) - seems like loop error?!

When troubleshooting involves third party firewalls, disabling the firewall is not enough as many of the settings remain in effect even if the firewall is disabled.  You have to uninstall to really test if the firewall is a problem.  This doesn't apply to the Windows Firewall.

Microsoft Security Essentials is my recommendation, running it with the installed Windows Firewall, is my choice for security programs for Home users.  It is a lot cheaper option too.

Sometimes files from other computers, or the Internet, have an "Unblock" check box that needs to be ticked, this can be seen when you right-click on the file and select Properties, (it is near the bottom of the Properties page).

Other software could be interfering too, try running from Safe Mode, or via a Clean Boot procedure.

You friend with the same OS can run these (same all around - 64-bit and all?) and you cannot.  Sounds less like an OS issue and more like a specific computer (some application you run, some setting you have, etc.) configuration issue.

What antivirus package are you running?

If you right-click and run as admininstrator on these executables, do they work?

If you download them on your friends computer, copy them to a USB stick and put them on your computer, do they work?

If you log in with a different account on your computer (create one if you don't have one) and try it with the different account - do they work?
