Hi, I am running Windows 7 32 bit, just installed it on a Zotac Z box a couple weeks ago with 4 gigs of RAM. I installed Java yesterday, but any type of application that requires java does not run. It will always prompt an error :Java Binary has Stopped working. The error types were BEX until I added exceptions to the memory settings for Java.exe. Now the error type is APPCRASH. The error module is always stackhash (hashstack?). I have tried reinstalling java several times, and clean reboot also. Please help!

    Hello Will,

Follow the suggestions listed below for a possible fix:

**Method 1:**You might want to verify that Windows DEP (Data Execution Prevention) is not blocking it. You may refer the article that explains how you do it. However, do not choose the option mentioned in this article (#4). Instead, verify that you have selected the radio button labeled:

Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only

    Change Data Execution Prevention settings

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/change-data-execution-prevention-settings

Method 2: You may place the computer in safe mode and check if the issue persists.

Start your computer in safe mode

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Method 3: Run compatibility troubleshooter for Java apps

    What is program compatibility?

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/What-is-program-compatibility

Make older programs run in this version of Windows

Hi, thanks for the fast reply.

I am the administrator. When I did a clean boot, the error still occurred. I have also tried a complete OS reinstall and drive wipe today, and got the same error! Which is very perplexing! I will try the scanner and see if it can detect some corruption of the drive itself.

Could it be the BIOS? Or it could be an incompatible driver. I installed NVIDIA drivers that came bundled with the computer, and some ethernet drivers.

It might even be a bad copy of windows 7 32 bit enterprise? I used the same copy for the OS reinstall.

I will output the event log tomorrow at work and post it.

    Thanks again,

    Will

    Hi Pasta296,

    ·         Are you the administrator of the computer?

    ·         What happened when you place the computer in clean boot state?

I would suggest you to scan your computer with Microsoft Safety Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.

The Microsoft Safety Scanner is a free downloadable security tool that provides on-demand scanning and helps remove viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. It works with your existing antivirus software.

    http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To rerun a scan with the latest anti-malware definitions, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Important: While scanning the hard drive if any bad sectors are found, the scanner tries to repair that sector, any data available on that might be lost.

Additionally, I would suggest you to open event viewer and check if there are any significant error messages/codes related to the issue and post the error log to comprehend the issue in right direction.

    Open Event Viewer

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-Event-Viewer

What information appears in event logs (Event Viewer)?

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/What-information-appears-in-event-logs-Event-Viewer

Reply with more information on the issue so that we can assist you in better way.
