Microsoft Authenticator App

I use Microsoft through my work email for various things. Since we are working from home at the moment we are currently using a Remote Desktop that uses Microsoft. I went to log in with my Microsoft account and the "Enter Code from authenticator app" pop up came up. So I went to my work cellphone that has the app already preinstalled and set up, and there was no code. So I looked everywhere for it, and realized maybe it wasn't working because of two step verification not being complete and I go to do that but I don't have a QR code anywhere to scan it for. So I try log out and log back into the app and when I go to log back in, it gives me the "Enter Code from Authenticator App" pop up. The problem is that I AM on the app and can't get in or get it to work properly. I've done absolutely everything from deleting the app, restarting the phone, logging out and logging back in, etc.. It just won't work. How do I get past this? I need both to be figured out somehow, so I can actually do my work.
