Bluetooth causing Blue Screen with error message: Driver Power State Failure

Hello,

I was posting this in the other thread here but it was closed before I could resolve the issue.

Background:

I left on vacation for 4 weeks and left my computer on.  When I came back, my computer was giving me the following problems:

  • Video playback from my NAS was choppy and freezing - I fixed this by finding out one of the RAID-1 drives had died
  • After 30 minutes, the computer would give me a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) and reboot - I updated every single driver I could, every piece of software, updated the BIOS, and then finally fixed the issue by updating the firmware on my boot drive: a Crucial m4 128GB SSD

Both of these issues were resolved, but may be useful in understanding the current problem

Current Problem:

After trying to use the webcam to video chat through either Gtalk or Skype, my Bluetooth Logitech MX5500 keyboard and mouse stop responding.  About 10-15 minutes after the call is ended, my computer gives a Blue Screen of Death with the message DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE.

The minidump file is available here and I understand the cause is due to my Bluetooth driver: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/30633232/052212-24429-01.dmp

What I have tried:

  • I have updated all drivers available on the Asus website for my Asus P8P67 EVO motherboard, including the Bluetooth driver and BIOS
  • I have updated my onboard HD Audio with drivers available on Realtek's website
  • I have updated all my webcam drivers and software from Logitech
  • I have uninstalled, reboot, and reinstalled my Bluetooth drivers
  • I have unpaired and repaired my Logitech MX5500 Keyboard and Mouse
  • I have uninstalled, reboot, and reinstalled both Skype and the Gtalk plugin for Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer

The ask:

I am running out of ideas... would love to get the genius of someone on these boards to help me out please!

The problem may be the sptd.sys:

I would suggest  to uninstall the application that installed the sptd.sys driver, possibly that is Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120%.

Then uninstall the sptd.sys - see "How can I remove SPTD driver on 64-bit OS?" in the following link:

What is your computer make and model? If not a branded computer what is your motherboard make and model?

Type System information in the Search Box above the start Button and press the ENTER key. What is your BIOS version and date?

You may want to explore updating this software:

    Hi auggy,

Despite uninstalling Daemon Tools, my computer is starting to give me the same error... it's quite reproduceable after using Gtalk's video chat service (I have a Logitch C910 Webcam)...

Here is the latest dump file:

    You're welcome.

There may be a problem with Daemon Tools in your setup.

What version of Daemon Tools are you using?

This seems to have worked for me - thanks!

Does this mean I can never use Daemon Tools?
