Tdmservice.exe Application Error

I installed an older version of Webroot's Window Washer I had, did a wash, and now I get this "Tdmservice.exe application error" on shutdown.  The PC's soft is Windows 7 rolled back to XP.  I don't think the older version of WW is Win7 compatible.  I understand that tdmservice is a 3rd party software, but has anyone had any experience with this error??

TdmService.exe is NOT an essential component of windows operating system, it doesn't ship with any Microsoft operating systems.

    That's a pretty good copy/paste from here:

    http://www.fixexeproblems.com/file/TdmService.exe.html

Unfortunately, I don't think you are correct.

Here is a contradictory copy/paste (I can copy and paste too).

The file is not a Windows system file.

tdmservice.exe is a process from EMBASSY Trusted Drive Manager by Wave Systems Corp. and part of Seagate Momentus FDE Trusted Drives. The EMBASSY Trusted Drive Manager is integrated into the EMBASSY Security Center to activate the hardware-based full disk encryption features of Seagate Momentus FDE Trusted Drives. Seagate Momentus FDE Drives, informally called “Trusted Drives”, are laptop hard drives with an on-board security controller and embedded capabilities for media-speed full disk encryption and pre-boot authentication

    Hi Dmario,

TdmService.exe serves as a common process denoting an executable program in the DOS, OpenVMS, Microsoft Windows, Symbian, and OS/2 operating systems. TdmService.exe is an essential component of windows operating system which located in C:\windows\system32. TdmService.exe error is caused by program confliction within the related file. It is the most common executable files because it is used to run programs, so it can be used as a malicious delivery system for adware, spyware and malware.

I would suggest you to scan your computer with Microsoft Safety Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.

The Microsoft Safety Scanner is a free downloadable security tool that provides on-demand scanning and helps remove viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. It works with your existing antivirus software.

    http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To rerun a scan with the latest anti-malware definitions, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Important: While performing scanning on the hard drive if any bad sectors are found on the hard drive when scanning tries to repair that sector if any data available on that might be lost.

Let us know if this helps.

Thanks for your suggestion.  I ran the scanner and there were no infections.

To at least solve the problem temporarily I went in to services, found TDM and disabled it.  No more error message and everything seems to be running fine.

That's what you get when you run useless registry cleaners on your machine...
