Getting Error message " An Error Occurred The System cannot find the file specified" when using Bitlocker

Original title: Bitlocker to go usb drive not accessable

Here's the short of it:  I decided to use Bitlocker To Go on my USB hard drive, and while it was encrypting the drive I plugged in a USB DVD-RW drive (it

's a netbook) and then I got an error message from the Bitlocker program that says "An Error Occurred The System cannot find the file specified."  I closed the error message and opened up the Bitlocker Unlock program, put in my password and hit Unlock, and now all it does is sit there and spin, and the light is blinking on my Seagate Batman HDD like it's being accessed.  The internals of the drive do not make the same sound like it did while it was being encrypted....just sounds like it's in an infinite loop.  The drive is good and has no errors, and I have scanned it with SeaTools.  I have lots of important data on this drive, and I really don't want to lose anything.  Help!

Thank you for asking the Question!

Sorry to know that you face issues with Bitlocker . As I get it right you get an error message "An Error Occurred The System cannot find the file specified" when running bitlocker encryption.

I need to ask you a  question in order to assist you in a better way.

Were there any changes (hardware or software) made to the computer prior to the issue?

Check the link below.

I Had windows 7 in which bitlocker was configured for external and internal drive.

Now my motherboard crashed and has been replaced.

When I connected my old HDD whicih has my OS all working fine, even my internal hdd with bitlocker working fine.

I am facing problem only for my external drive with error "System Cannot find the file specified"

Also TPM is not working, "Compatible TPM cannot be found"

When I connect my external HDD is loads the drive asks for password and then disappears with the prompt for format HDD when i toggle to password screen I get error system cannot find the specified file.

I do have recovery keys whicih I can use for recovery, but how ?
