Does data get securely erased when deleting an OS/data disk?

I wonder if there is any erase process at the back end when I delete a data disk or OS disk.
To make sure no data remains physically on the storage, do we have to perform a slow Formatting before deleting the disk?
(I know that may not really make the data unrecoverable, but it's enough for me. I just don't want to leave files as such around.)

Thanks.

    HI @Balázs Varga

    Azure customer data protection
It's not necessary to perform a secure wipe of data when clearing it from Azure. As this is a hardware level system, it falls under Microsoft's responsibilities under the Shared Responsibility Model. As such, MS is contractually required to perform this level of data destruction and if there is data compromised because of a failure to do this, MS is responsible for paying you for damages incurred. Azure does the data destruction automatically and there is no control in the azure UI to do it.
