2013-01-07T13:54:09+00:00 Microsoft:
It's the missing slash problem. Here's the problem with the new Java Release 10:
Java is actually creating THIS file:
%SystemRoot%\system32javacpl.cpl
...instead of:
%SystemRoot%\system32\javacpl.cplPlease go tell SUN to stop recreating the previous missing slash problem that supposedly had already been fixed. Surprise! The missing slash is back.Just rename the system32javacpl.cpl file as javacpl.cpl. Then cut and paste javacpl into****the %SystemRoot%\system32 folder.

2013-01-02T03:01:10+00:00 Hi Kenny,
Thank you for posting your question in Microsoft Community and a very Happy New Year to you as well.
I understand that Java icon is missing from control panel. Correct me if I am wrong.
I can imagine the inconvenience you have experienced. I will try to help you in fixing the issue.
To help you suggest more steps to resolve the issue, I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions:
- What happens if you try to launch the Java Control Panel applet manually?
- Do you receive any error code or message?
- Have you made any recent hardware or software changes to your computer prior to the issue?
Follow the below steps to open Java Control Panel applet manually:
a. Click Start, click on Run and in the box type or copy and paste.
b. %SystemRoot%\system32\javacpl.cpl
c. Click OK.
When looking at your Control Panel list of things, right click one of the icons and choose 'Sort by Name', to reorder the Control Panel listing alphabetically. Could be your Java icon is hiding out at the bottom of the list and is just out of sight.
"Sort by Name' also works in your Start, Programs listing too.
Your reply is very important for us to ensure a proper resolution. Please get back to us with the above information in order to assist you accordingly.
In future if you come across any issues regarding Windows, please feel free to post your query here on Microsoft Community, we will be more than happy to assist you.
