Error Code 19 on Buttons + OSDs ACPI driver gen2

I have a new error window that has started popping up every time my computer reloads and not knowing how to fix it is driving me crazy!

Whenever I turn the computer on (HP Touchsmart 600 series) a small error message comes up with JAN2OSD in the top of the window and "Can't Open ACPI kernel Mode Driver in the text box of the window. I've checked in the Device Manager and found the little yellow triangle next to

"Buttons and OSDs ACPI driver gen2" when I click on that device, under the general tab I get the following error message:

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged (Code 19)

I tried Update Driver but it came back saying the driver is up to date and installed correctly. I have tried googling this error to find a fix myself but have not had any luck so far.  I am tempted to uninstall this device driver and hope that Windows re-installs it correctly but loathe to do this unless I know it won't adversely affect my system.

Incidentally, on the advice of a tech friend I ran a program called Combofix that I downloaded from www.bleepingcomputers.com to fix another issue that I'd been having - and running this program did indeed fix my issue, but this problem started occuring soon after so I'm not sure if it's related or not. Simultaneously I've also had my previously personalised background change to a Windows stock standard background and my computer will no longer allow me to use my photo collection as source for a screen saver which I've always had and want back!

Hope someone can help!

Thanks in advance, Kat

Hi Katrina,

It would be great if you can provide more information regarding this issue.

1)       What is the exact model number of your computer?

2)       How did you try updating the “Buttons + OSDs ACPI driver” for the computer? Was it done from the HP website?

I would suggest you to try the following methods and check if that resolves the issue.

Method 1: Open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter

You may first run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter and check that it does with this issue. You may refer to the article: “Open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter” from this link:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/open-the-hardware-and-devices-troubleshooter

If the issue persists, then you may try updating the drivers through Windows Update and from the HP website and check if that helps. Follow the next method for the same.

Method 2: Update the “Buttons + OSDs ACPI driver”

Please refer to the article: “Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly” from this link and try updating the drivers.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/update-driver-hardware-isnt-working-properly#update-driver-hardware-isnt-working-properly=windows-7

You may use the given link to download and install the latest “Buttons + OSDs ACPI driver” for the HP Touchsmart computers.

You may also refer to the article “Update drivers: recommended links” from this link for more information:

Hope this resolves the issue. Please do get back and let us know the status of the issue.
