In my action center I have a few errors from some video errors and a shutdown. Normally I hit the check for solutions button and let windows do what it does and if it cant find a fix I send the info to Microsoft so they can review it. Normally this works but the past month, every time I try to report after I check for solutions I get the cant connect to the error reporting service and it doesnt send the error info. Im not sure why I cant connect to send the info. Im using win7 home premium with all the updates installed. anyone have any ideas? I know I won`t be able figure out why I get these errors unless the info is sent in and an update is released for it.

I already did one of those scans while browsing other posts trying to troubleshoot this problem. The scan completed and found nothing. I appreciate your time in trying to help.

    Hi,

Perform a system file checker scan.

If a Windows Resource Protection (WRP) file is missing or is corrupted, Windows may not behave as expected. For example, some Windows functions may not work, or Windows may crash. The System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) scans for missing or corrupted system files and repairs them.

I just tried the clean boot and tried hitting the check for solutions button. After about 10 minutes of checking I get the same message saying there was a problem trying to connect to the reporting service and to try again later. Not sure what it could be.

    Hello,

I checked the service like you mentioned and it is running with the manual startup type selected.

The only changes I have made to the pc are updated my video card drivers and all the updates that windows automatically installs. A few weeks ago windows installed a large amount of updates at one time. I am not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. In the past whenever there was an error, the action center always handled the problem and would look for solutions and send in info if it could resolve the issue.

Strangely enough I normally get the video errors after updating drivers for my video card. I will normally go to the NVidia site and have it scan and install the latest drivers. I have gotten a few display errors with an opengl kernel error stops working and I believe this is the error that is not reporting. No other issues have happened except that and that only started happening after I updated the drivers. Go figure.

I will try the clean boot method and see if I get different results

    Hi LordDamiac,

    1. Did you make any changes to the computer prior to this issue?
    2. What is the exact and complete error message you get?

    Let us follow these methods:

    Method 1.

Check for the service “Windows Error Reporting Service” to see if it is started or not.

    1. Click on Start.
    2. In the start Search box type “Services”.
    3. Right Click on - RUN AS ADMIN

Check if this service has the mentioned status and start up type.

Windows Error Reporting Service status as Started and start up type as Automatic\Manual.

Also check the dependency services that are required for Windows Error Reporting Service to run. Double click on the service and click on the dependency tab.

    Method 2.

Boot the computer in a clean boot state and check the status. A clean boot helps to verify if any third party application service or startup item is causing this issue.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7, Windows 8:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After you have finished troubleshooting, follow steps under “How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot” in the article to boot to normal startup.

Reply with the status of the issue and we will be glad to offer our assistance.
