bad pool caller and other errors

Hi,

I've been getting various blue screen errors and only have the the most recent DMP files.

Besides bad pool caller, there was also "kernel security check failure", kmode exception not handled", "driver corrupted expool", and most frequently, "driver irql not less or equal". All errors occur when the wireless access point is disconnected. Network drivers have been reinstalled but I'm still getting the errors.

    Hi Stan,

The attached DMP file is the same of the above, same culprit as well (BitDefender).

I'm going to recommend removing and replacing BitDefender for temporary troubleshooting purposes with Windows 8's built-in Windows Defender - http://www.bitdefender.com/support/How-to-uninstall-Bitdefender-333.html

    Regards,

    Patrick

    Hi Patrick,

I switched off and on the wireless access point, and while reconnecting to WIFI, the blue screen appeared again. Here's the DMP file!

I checked and Windows firewall has not been turned on.

    Kind regards,

    Stan

    Hi Stan,

Thanks for the reply. It's very strange as BitDefender's firewall should have automatically disabled Windows firewall. Good work disabling it as it was very likely conflicting.

    Please keep me updated.

    Regards.

    Patrick

    Hi Patrick,

Thanks for the bug checks. I just turned Windows Firewall off - thought it was already off after I installed BitDefender since I usually get a notification when there are more than one active. Memory test was ran for 24 hours with no errors. Hopefully it's all good now and the computer stays free from blue screens for a while. Thank you, Patrick!

    Kind regards,

    STan

    Hi,

    We have two bugchecks here:

    BAD_POOL_CALLER (c2)

This indicates that the current thread is making a bad pool request.

    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (d1)

A kernel-mode driver attempted to access pageable memory at a process IRQL (Interrupt Request Level) that was too high.

Usual causes are a device driver has a bug and attempted to access invalid memory, the pagefile has been corrupted or there is a memory problem.

Both bugchecks and throughout all dumps, bdfndisf6.sys is labeled as the culprit which is the

    BitDefender Firewall.

Aside from BitDefender, are you using ANY other active firewall / antivirus software? If so, remove the other and keep BitDefender.

If BitDefender is the ONLY one, there is likely no conflicts and there is just issue with BitDefender. To rule it out, I'd recommend removing and replacing it with Windows 8's built-in Windows Defender and Firewall for temporary troubleshooting purposes:

    BitDefender removal - http://www.bitdefender.com/support/How-to-uninstall-Bitdefender-333.html

    Regards,

    Patrick
