Microsoft JScript Compilation error

Question

Hi,

I am using a DELL Inspiron with windows 8 OS. When I login in the recent times I receive a pop up error saying "Unterminated string constant" with the following details.

pop up 1:

Windows Script Host

Script: C:\Users\C\AppData\Roaming\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\4343.js

Line: 1

Char: 21841

Error: Unterminated string constant

Code: 800A03F7

Source: Microsoft JScript Compilation error

Pop up 2:

Windows Script Host

Script: C:\Users\C\AppData\Roaming\04\1240.js

Line: 1

Char: 21841

Error: Unterminated string constant

Code: 800A03F7

Source: Microsoft JScript Compilation error

Could you please provide me guidance on the above error to be resolved?

Hi Chandhini,

I can understand the inconvenience that you are facing on this issue.

Let me gather some information:

1. Do you receive this error message while using Internet Explorer? If yes, which version of Internet Explorer are you using? Is it the Modern Version or the Desktop Version?
2. Have you installed Java on the computer? If yes, which is the version that is installed?
3. Did you recently make any changes to the computer, in terms of any software or hardware, prior to this issue?

If this issue specific to Internet Explorer, I would suggest you to refer to the methods:

Method 1:

Turn off pop-up blocker:

You can follow the steps:

a)       Open Internet Explorer 10 on the desktop screen.

b)      Press Alt key to open the menu bar for the browser.

c)       Click on Tools option.

d)      Click on Internet options.

e)       Go to Privacy tab.

f)        Uncheck the box which states ‘Turn on popup blocker’.

g)      Click on Apply.

h)       Click on OK.

Note: Popup blocker is used to prevent unwanted pop-up window from appearing on the browser.

Method 2:

I would suggest you to disable script debugging since this could be a common fix for script errors.

You can follow the steps to do so:

a)      Open Internet Explorer on the desktop and click on Tools option on the browser.

b)      Select Internet Options.

c)       Now, click on the “Advanced” tab and uncheck the box next to “Display a notification about every script error".

d)      Click on “OK”.

e)      Check if the issue persists.

i am encountering the following problem,with two popups when i reach my desktop

I am also facing the same jscript error while starting windows.

I'm using java 6.0.220.4 version.

I am using windows 7 home premium 64-bit OS in DELL Inspiron. I used to update Windows7 almost once in a week. Please advise. Thanks.

This is Krishna Kamal from hyderabad. I am facing the same jscript error.

These are the details of my errors which u wanted to know.

1. I am not facing it when i am using internet explorer or something else. I am facing this error during every boot of my system.
2. The version of my java is 7.0.170.
3. This has been happening since 2 months and i don't recollect any new software installation prior to this issue.

I am using windows 7 home premium 64-bit OS.

Please do help me. Thanks.
