Printer Communication Error

Hi there all,

I have just upgraded my PC from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 8 Pro and I am now having issues with my A3 Printer, which is a Dinosaur I am afraid, an Epson Stylus Photo 2100 but worked a treat under windows 7 Ultimate but I get a Comms error under Win 8.

The Driver downloads fine from Windows Update and installs fine, from what I can tell, but when I hit Print or CTRL+P, the word print grays out and nothing happens. If I hit "Print One Copy", the PC hits a Comms error but still prints.

I am convinced that it is a Driver issue under Windows 8 but I cannot get around it. Ive uninstalled the printer, and reinstalled, uninstalled CS6 and the installed CS4 Extended, CS5 Upgrade and then CS6 upgrade just in case it was that.... nothing. I am completely baffled.

If anyone can shed light on the matter, that would be great.... especially if they have a driver fix.

Many thank sin advance

Kind regards

Dyf

Hi,

Which is the antivirus program installed on the computer?

Possible reasons:

a. The power cord may not be properly plugged into the electrical outlet.

b. The electrical outlet may be controlled by an outside switch or an automatic timer.

What to do:

Turn off the printer and check the power cord connections between the printer and the electrical outlet. Then turn the printer back on.

Make sure that the switch is turned on or plug another electrical device into the outlet to check whether the outlet is operating properly.

If the issue still persists perform the steps provided. Let's analyze and identify the cause of the issue.

I have already checked the compatibility of the printer and it says its compatible with Windows 8. Click on this link.

Method 1:

Run the Printer troubleshooter and update the driver manually from the manufacturer website.

Fix printer problems

Method 2:

You may disable the antivirus program for temporary purpose.

Note: Make sure you turn-on the security software and Windows Firewall later once you are done with the test.

If the issue still persists, you may contact Epson support for more information.
