To see current tasks , click refresh". If i hit refresh it just repeats the error message again. Under the task manager library i can see/ edit the variuuos tasks that have been set up. Just cannot view the task summary results. What needs tbe changed in the task scheduler to allow view?

    Arya,

I know you're saying to delete all the keys under the Schedulekey; in my case that would mean to delete the keys shown below in italics:

    Schedule

Aliases    CompatibilityAdapter        Signatures    Configuration    CredWom    Handlers    Handshake    TaskCache        Boot        Logon        Plain        Tasks        Tree

But, then how will I get them back ? Will these registry keys be recreated if I import — from within Task Scheduler — each task, one at a time, from a \Windows\System32\Tasks folder which I extracted from a System Image Backup (which I made after a reinstall) ? ****

    Steps to re-create Task Scheduler

    a. Click onStart; in the start search type regedit.exe and press Enter.

If you get consent prompt, click on Yes.

    b. Browse through the following location.

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Schedule key and then delete its subkeys. ****

    c. Savethe changes and then exit out of the registry editor.

Now check if Task Scheduler works.

If the issue persists, please do not hesitate to let us know. It is our pleasure to be of assistance.

Hi ARYA thanks for your prompt response

As for you initial question I did use CCleaner to clean up my registery files on Jan 19/13 but not sure that my problem with Task Scheduler was a result of this.?? everything else on the computers seems to be functioning OK

As for your fixes, I have tried the following:

Method 1 - Did not get any option to restart service after right -click - service states that it is enabled and i could disable or enable

    Method 2 - Not tried

Method 3 - ran system file checker - all files OK no errors found

Method 4 - found the registry path you outlined, my actual is : HKEY_Local_Machine\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Schedule, and I am not sure which subkeys to delete as per your instructions, There are several sub folders under the Schedule folder - do I delete all files and sub folders below Schedule folder? or just the contents(keys) in the Schedule folder?? I have created an export (back up) of this Schedule Folder data but  could not attach a copy for your review.

    Thanks for your assistance
