Using Windows 7 with latest updates My Toshiba Canvio drive gets message Hardware ID Missing. This drive worked days earlier. I applied newest updates from Windows and now it doesn't work Any idea?
The system says drivers are loaded then pops the message Hardware ID Missing. I can't see the drive in windows explorer

The device does work on another computer.
I have never been able to do a system restore so that is out.
The drive does not show up in disk management
Troubleshooter didn't fix anything
All other USB devices work fine
Am I to uninstall all the "Intel ICH9 USB Family Universal Host Controller entries " as well as the USB Family USB2 enhanced Universal Host Controller entries ?

1. Does the device work on any other computer?
2. Which update you are referring to?
3. Did you try connecting to different USB ports?
4. Are other USB devices working fine?
Please follow the methods and check if it works fine.
Method 1:
Run the troubleshooter from the link.
Open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter

Method 2:
Please check if it is recognized in Disk Management, if it is recognized in disk management assign drive letter and check if it works fine.

Method 3:
Try uninstalling and reinstalling the USB controllers.
a. Click on start button.
b. In the start search box, type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
c. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
d. Right-click the first USB controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers, and then click on Uninstall to remove it. Repeat these steps for the entire USB controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers.
e. Restart the computer. After the computer starts, Windows will automatically scan for hardware changes and reinstall all the USB controllers that you uninstalled.
Method 4:
Try performing system restore to the date and time prior to the update
