junk mail storage limit

Hi everyone:  I had a lot of junk mail several weeks ago and now it's only a few emails.  I like to check each one to make sure that they are actually junk.  Several weeks ago, I found a very important email in the junk mail folder, so I'd like to check these.  What happened to them?  I did not delete them.  Any help would be appreciated.

Windows Live Mail sets no limits to the number or size of files in any folder.

If your account is synchronized with the mailbox at the server, then the server may apply limitations to the junk email folder. For example, both Gmail and outlook.com empty the junk folder periodically or remove messages after they've been there for a number of days. Once they're removed from the server, they will eventually be removed from Windows Live Mail.

Effectively, yes. Unless you receive hundreds of non-junk messages each day, you will probably never have to delete a message. I hardly ever do, and that's the way I've operated for the last twelve years at least.

    Hi:

Thanks for your response.  Unfortunately I don't get to check my email but around once every week or two since I don't have internet access at home.  I use the public computers and a few months ago, they put a time limit of only one hour when I do get to go.  A while back, I had found a very important email that I needed to respond to in the junk file.  Luckily it had not been deleted.  Was the Hotmail account different than outlook when it comes to the junk mail time limit?  Also, can I set it up for me to empty and/or delete myself?

Outlook.com retains messages in the Junk folder for ten days, after which they are deleted. If you use the HTTP option (the default) for configuring your outlook.com account in Windows Live Mail, then the Junk email folder will be synchronized. This means that messages will be removed in Windows Live Mail at the next synchronization after they have been deleted at outlook.com.

The only reason for retaining them at all is to give you a period of grace to check for any 'false negatives'. If you find a legitimate message in the junk folder, move it out of there to another folder for safe keeping. You can do this either at outlook.com or in Windows Live Mail.

Hi:  Thanks for your reply.  As far as I knew, my junk mail had stayed in that file until I deleted it or moved it.  I did not see any notification that these emails were going to be deleted.  What is the time limit?  I only have the junk email from about a week or so.  Shouldn't it be more time than that?  The only email account I have is through outlook.com.  Also, do I have to worry about some old emails that I need to keep that I have filed in folders in which some are still in the inbox and the junk mail

folders (some may be from years ago, but are very important!)?  Thank you.
