Hi,

Windows 10 Enterprise (1909), Windows 2016 Domain

The last problem I’m struggling with before being able to deploy ‘Windows 10’ is the very long first logon time that occurs whenever a user logs onto a computer they’ve not used before (i.e. no existing local profile). It’s well griped about on the web as being caused by the modern apps provisioning. In open access/shared areas this long first logon time would be every time a user logged on in the majority of cases.

Any detailed help and tips on how to overcome this gratefully received.

Kind regards,

Glen

You can remove unused Provisioned AppX packages during OS Deployment (or from your WIM), helps a little.

I've heard Shared PC Mode also helps, but haven't any experience with it myself: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/configuration/set-up-shared-or-guest-pc

    Hello,

Is it possible to remove unused modern apps for all users of a computer using a PowerShell script after the OS has been deployed?

Thank you for the links Alice. Remove Unneeded Modern Apps details the cmdlet (Remove-AppXProvisionedPackage) to use but it raises the following:

    1. Do Microsoft produce a full list of the modern apps and their package names for each version of Windows 10 (e.g. Windows 10 Enterprise 1909) and, if so, where can I find it?
    2. Are there any modern apps that shouldn't be removed because they're needed for the fundamental running of the OS?

    Thanks,

    Glen
