    I really don't know...

What is your XP version and Service Pack?

Is it something you just installed?

    Has is ever worked?

Exactly what are you trying to do when you see this error?

Searching on the Internet, there are some places you can allegedly download this DLL, but it is generally not a good idea to just download files from untrusted sites and I would not know where to put it if you did download it.  It is not on the genuine XP installation CD.

There are also sites where you can allegedly download Movie Maker, so I put on my daredevil hat and downloaded it and tried to install it and it says:

This product only runs on Windows Vista.

Since it is a Microsoft product, it would seem that the Microsoft engaged Support Engineer should know how to fix it or give you some advice that works - it is a Microsoft product and the MS Answers Code of Conduct says they are supposed to be the experts.  It is their stuff so they should know how to make it work, right?

I am getting tired of constantly doing all the leg work for these "experts".

Perhaps somebody that has Movie Maker installed can check on their system and give you some better idee-ers.

    Hey Elder:

What suggestion can you provide that would eliminate the Xvidcore.dll not found

error message which pops up when I am using the Windows Movie Maker on

my XP system?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, I apologize it was the file Xvidcore.dll error message.

I guess the Xvid software was removed by accident.

I will check Windows to find a link to download the

Xvid codec.  Hopefully, that will solve the problem. Thanks

As a Microsoft engaged Forum Moderator "expert", is it too much to expect of an "expert" that if you are going to make a suggestion for something as simple as registering a DLL, you would at least try your own advice to see if it works or not?

I mean, c'mon here - are you just playing more of your wild goose chase guessing games that just waste people's time?  What kind of "expert" is that?

Xvidcore.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found.

    This file cannot be registered.

Now YOU go have a nice day!

    Hi Jack,

Is the file Xvidcore.dll or Xvidcode.dll?

Xvidcore.dll is installed on your Windows computer when you install the XviD codec. You need to install this codec in order to play the XviD movies and videos on your system. After installing the codec, you can play your XviD movie and video files using any media player that currently exists on your computer.

Perform the steps mentioned below and see if it helps.

    a: Press Start

b: Type CMD in the Start Search and press Enter

    c: Type regsvr32 Xvidcore.dll and press Enter .

    Have a Nice Day!
