Overnight this aspnet_client folder has appeared on our server in the main share. It has two empty sub-directories (system_web/4_0_30319) I'm wondering if it's safe to delete?

Ignore the answers provided by "Microsoft" moderators. They nearly always get it wrong.

Instead, go to StackOverflow and check out some real possibilities. In short, these are mostly obsolete folders that can appear (or re-appear) for a number of reasons. But head to StackOverflow for more detail.

    Best of Luck...

It's a Windows Server 2008 R2 running Active Directory as the domain controller. No changes have been made that I can think of other than the most recent windows update. It has been running IIS only for FTP since last year and this folder didn't appear until the Oct 10, 2013 (which is the date windows update last automatically ran and rebooted the server).
