How do I decrease the touchpad sensitivity on the new Surface Pro?

My Surface Pro seems to have a specific sort of touchpad hyper-sensitivity: It works fine when just typing, but as soon as I place the cursor somewhere (for instance on a word that I wish to change or re-type) the cursor jumps all over the place, sometimes even "selecting" a paragraph and deleting it when I touch a key. What is going on and can this be helped? Suggestions are welcome!

I have had the same issue, and just turned off "Allow taps on the touchpad"  this took care of that annoying behavior.  So now you actually have to push on the touchpad to engage.  Works great.

Thanks for the reply. However, I had tried to change the settings already but saw no way to decrease the sensitivity of the touchpad. I entered “long delay” to prevent the cursor from jumping around but that did not help and it keeps jumping with enthusiasm. Is there another way?

    Thanks,

    Johan

    Hi Johan,

You can change touchpad settings, like scroll rate, or turn gestures off and on. Here’s how.

Step 1: Attach a typing cover to Surface.

Step 2: Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and tap or click Settings.

(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Settings.)

Step 3: Tap or click Change PC settings, and then tap or click PC and devices.

Step 4: Tap or click Mouse and touchpad.

Refer this Microsoft articles and check if it helps:
