    Hi Sundaram,

Please answer these questions for a better understanding.

    1)       When exactly do you get this error message? Is it at the Startup while booting or when you access any application on the computer?

    2)       What are the recent changes that you have made to the computer prior to this issue?

    3)       Do you have any third party security program installed on the computer?

I would suggest you to try the following methods and check if that helps. Let’s first check if this is caused by any missing Windows Updates on the computer. So, let’s run the Windows Update and the check if there are any updates for Windows 8.1. If yes, you may install them and check the status.

Method 1: Check the Windows updates for any latest driver updates.

Check in Windows updates if any driver updates are available. If so, install the same and check if it helps.

    a)       Press “Windows Logo” + “W” keys from the keyboard.

    b)       Type “Updates” in the search bar and click on the icon “Windows Update” from the search result.

    c)       On the “Windows Update” window, click on the link: “Check for updates” from the left pane of the window to receive a fresh list of updates.

    d)       If the updates are available, then install all the updates listed there.

    e)       Restart the computer if prompted and check if that resolves the issue.

You may also check if this is caused by and corrupted/damaged system files on the computer. Please follow these steps to run the SFC scan to check this possibility.

Method 2: Run an SFC Scan

The “sfc /scannow” command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

    a)       Press “Windows Logo” + “Q” keys on the keyboard and type “cmd” in the search box.

    b)       Right click on the “Command Prompt” icon from the search results and select “Run as administrator

    c)       On the command prompt window, type the following command, and then press “Enter

    sfc /scannow

    d)       Follow the on-screen instructions and complete the scan.

Please let’s know the scan result. You may also check for any software conflicts on the computer causing this issue. Please try the next method.

Method 3: Perform a Clean Boot and find out which application/service is causing this issue.

A clean boot helps to eliminate software conflicts and to determine what is causing the problem. To perform a clean boot, please refer to the section “How to perform a clean boot” and follow the instructions for “Windows 8.1 and Windows 8” from this link:

You may please note that performing a clean boot does not fix the actual issue. It just helps us in identifying the root cause of the issue.

If the issue does not occur in clean boot, then you may determine which application/service on the computer is causing this issue. This can be done by following the instructions for “Windows 8.1 and Windows 8” given in the section “How to determine what is causing the problem by performing a clean boot” from the same given link.

Important: After you have finished troubleshooting, refer to the section “How to reset the computer to start as usual after clean boot troubleshooting” for “Windows 8 and Windows 8.1”, to reset the computer to start as usual from the above link.

Hope this is helpful. Please get back to us with the results.
