I'm sure this question has already been asked a hundred times but how do I re-install this program? My lap top is so out of wack right now it's pathetic.

Thanks

    Hi Robert,

I understand that you are getting this error message : windowscodecs.dll missing”

This file might have gone corrupt on your computer or might have been deleted from the computer by mistake.

Windowscodecs.dll error can be fixed either by re-installing the associated program and then reboot your computer.

I would like to know the answers of few questions in order to fix the issue.

    1)      What is the complete exact error message related to windowscodecs.dll?

    2)      When exactly do you receive the error related to windowscodecs.dll? Is it while trying to access any application program ? If so ask which program?

    3)      Are you facing any issue while accessing any application ? If yes then we have to un-install and re-install the application and check.

Check this link for uninstalling a program:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/uninstall-change-program#uninstall-change-program=windows-7

You can install a program by using a CD of a program or downloading it from internet.

In order to fix it we can try the following steps :

    Method 1: Run SF Scan

    a)      Click on Start, type cmd in the search box.

    b)      Right click on CMD and then click on Run as Administrator.

    c)      On command prompt windows type : sfc /scannow.

    J,

Thanks for the help. Computer really got out of wack this past week. I haven't used command prompt in years and completely forgot about it. The scan did the trick. After I rebooted, everything seemed to be back to normal.

Scan said it fixed a bunch of corrupt files. Thanks for the help. Appreciate it.

The past 3 weeks I've had a lot of problems with the laptop screen going black. Hopefully, this repair will also take care of that problem.

If anything screws up in the next couple of days, I'll let you know. Thanks again.

    Robert Skelly
