Twitter app error: bad authentication data

I thought this was a problem due to the beta nature of the Windows 8.1 RT Preview, but it appears it is not. I get the same frustrating error message in the stable, newly released Windows 8.1 RT. (As I needed to reinstall the app, I doubt it is a corrupt installation.) As it appears to be related to the Charms menu, I'm not sure it is a problem with the app.

When using the Twitter app, it seemingly randomly (but often following having tried to use it via the Share charm in MSIE 11) starts showing (and then repeats frequently) the error message "bad authentication data." As there appears to be no way to log out and then in, I cannot test if doing so would fix the problem. Interestingly, closing the app and then, immediately or waiting for a minute or two, reopening it does NOT solve this problem.

Upon receiving this error, even if Share to Twitter seems to work, it does not post anything.

And sometimes the app works. This appears to usually be the case when I'm not using it to share via charm.

Does anybody else have this problem? Any suggestions for how to solve it? It is VERY frustrating.

This is happening in Windows 8.1 Pro as well.  It does appear to be related to using the "Share" option from the charms bar.

I contacted Twitter support about a month ago. No response. And no update.

Thanks, but installing another app is hardly a solution to the problem. It amazes me that Twitter haven't addressed this issue even though many users seem to have this problem.

I'd also like to be able to quote tweets, as one can in the Windows Phone app.

May I suggest the rowi app. Its not as good as its windows phone version but a ton more reliable than the Twitter app. Have to use both as I have professional and personal twitter accounts.
