Hi, I'm desperate for any help.  Just downloaded Windows 8.1 and now keep getting the message "browser does not support audio playback". I work from home doing digital dictation and this has cost me a small fortune already today so I'm now desperate for a solution.   Please can anyone advise what to do.

    Hi Jenni,

    ·         When exactly do you get this error message?

    ·         Which web browser are you using?

    ·         Does the issue occur with specific website?

    ·         From which website are you trying to play the audio?

    ·         From which version of Windows did you upgrade to Windows 8.1?

In order to understand the exact issue, please provide us more information regarding the issue, so that we can assist you better. Meanwhile you can check if issue persists in compatibility view mode on Internet explorer 11:

Method 1: Fix site display problems with Compatibility View

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11

Method 2: Check audio settings in Internet Explorer

    a)      Open Internet Explorer and click on Tools option (if you do not have tools option in IE press Alt button on your keyboard).

    b)      In the drop down list select Internet Options and click on Advance tab.

    c)      Under settings look for Multimedia option and make sure “Play sounds in webpages” is selected.

    d)      Click on Apply and Ok.

Also check if right plugins/add-on’s installed to play sound. Commonly needed plugins for interactive media include:

    1.       Adobe Flash

    2.       Java.

    Hope this helps
