" What am I not getting right? It was working on the previous load"

    • Previous load (installation ? ) of what, the OS, the game, or both ?

It's impossible to tell what you may not have right, you didn't give much information.

There are a number of potential sources for you error message.

    • Have you installed or removed any mods ?

By 'load', if you are referring to a game save, try using an earlier save. The most recent save may be corrupt. Saves do get corrupted at times with Bethesda games. The potential is greater if you

    remove a mod, or mods.

    • If you reinstalled the game after using mods did you delete any folders that may have

not been uninstalled (such as the Data folder with the mods) before reinstalling ?

Are you using the same game saves and .ini files from the previous install ?

    • Are you using multiple monitors ?
    • Which graphics card, and which driver version are you using ?

If you have reinstalled Windows -

Have you updated DirectX  ? -

Download DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer from Official Microsoft Download Center

Have you installed the 'important' Windows Updates ?

    • If DX, drivers and Windows updates have been done and there seems to be an issue relating

to Steam you should post on the Steam forums.
