No this is a new Post-Toshiba Satellite L305-S5875 Windows 8.1/32 -Yes it was an optional Wireless Adapter Qualcomm Altheros AR5007EG update.

So I just Restored from prior checkpoint and ran "non wireless"  then Device Manager and uninstalled the Network Adapter driver. then Rebooted and it auto loaded the new driver for Network Adapter then went wireless --ALL OK!!!

How could it download such a corrupted driver? Winupdate install new driver once in a lifetime and only if it is super--duper-compatible. Yesterday, my win 8.1 made some updates before it turned off. This morning, it can't even load. Safe mode is not working. It just keeps showing blue logo on black background. I have Atheros Wi-fi adapter too, but don't remember what model, but it seems to be the same as topic starter has. What should I do? Reinstall Windows? Say "thank you Microsoft, my next computer will be Mac?". I don't have restore partition on the hard-drive. Neither I don't have installation CD.

omg..same..i don't have the installation cd and didn't restore partition either. Its all due to that optional update. I ignore in installing and updating it then suddenly I get this blue screen. What's the next step? I'm stucked :(

Usually after you uninstall, then reboot it will load any needed drivers--AND IT DID It loaded the Qualcomm Atheros Communications Inc. VER 10.0.0.270 -(the same one that was in the prior windows optional update)- so when I did a windows update there were no updates(or optional) available. But as you have stated if there were other drivers to support the WI FI Adapter to work then the "HIDE option in windows update would be the way to go. I did try to restore and do the windows updates twice with the same error so I restored and "hide" it but I wanted the most current driver, that is why I direct connected to my network and did the Device Manager Network Adapter uninstall of the old Qualcomm driver, then restarted and it found the needed driver.

TIP: Nevertheless, the unwanted driver update will remain in the update queue & will be installed again unless you hide it.

And if you don't install the optional, non-security driver update for your networking card...?

Does this concern the same computer as in this previous thread of yours? => http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-windows_install/windows-8-upgrade-assistant-internal-errorfailed/aed20272-8858-4b07-9fa8-f21b462b8b0a
