Error code 80070056 windows 8.1 update from windows 8

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 running windows 8. It was originally windows 7, but was upgraded. I have checked the compatibility and it all checks out. But after downloading windows 8.1, I start to install the update. Everything works fine until I hit applying changes in the windows store. After that it stops and will say 'This app wasn't installed-view details" and then it gives me the error code 80070056. Does anyone know what that means?

Hi Dale,

I can imagine the inconvenience you have experienced.

Do you have Webroot Antivirus software installed on the computer?

Here are a few methods which you can follow to resolve the issue:

Method 1:

Temporarily disconnect all the external devices (except mouse and keyboard) connected to the computer and then try to install Windows 8.1.

Method 2:

If the issue persists, I would suggest you to uninstall Antivirus software and then try to upgrade to Windows 8.1.

Note:

  1. Please make sure to re-install Antivirus software after upgrading to Windows 8.1.
  2. Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable or uninstall your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable or uninstall it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled or uninstalled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Hope this helps. If you have any further queries/issues related to Windows, write to us and we will be glad to assist you further.

Yes, I do have webroot antivius installed on my computer. I also have Norton 360 installed. I will try these methods and post with an update.
