USB pendrive not detecting

Anonymous
2014-07-16T19:07:04+00:00

When I plug USB pendrive to my computer, I am not able to see it in the explorer. But, in the system tray, I find this.

As you can see, USB icon do appears. But, in the explorer, it doesn't.

Also, when I checked Disk Management, I found this.

Why is this happening?

Hi,

Have you plugged the drive into different ports on that computer? Have you tried

using the drive on other computers?

Check this Hotfix (which might apply) :

Connected USB device is not detected in Windows

=================================

Note using Win Key + X and Win Key + W (to get to Control Panel, Run, and Settings

as needed). Win Key + D calls the desktop and the using Win Key toggles Desktop

and Start Screen.

Do these to clear corruption and repair/replace damaged/missing system files.

WinKey + X (or Right Click in lower left hand corner) - Command Prompt (Admin)

C:\windows\system32>

At the above prompt type in      SFC /scannow

(There is a space between C and /)

How to Run the "SFC /SCANNOW" Command at Boot or in Windows 8

Then run CheckDisk (chkfdsk /f /r)

File Explorer (formerly Windows Explorer)

Right Click the C: drive - Properties - Tools tab - Error Checking - Check

Windows 8/8.1 - Improve performance by optimizing your hard drive - see "To repair a drive:

Then lets refresh the USB Stack

Control Panel - Device Manager - click anywhere in the blank/white area - then VIEW - Show

Disabled Devices - look everywhere (except USB Controllers) for your device(s) (may have

none or more than one) and Right Click on it - UNINSTALL.

Control Panel - Device Manager - USB Serial Controllers - RIGHT CLICK on EVERYTHING and

UNINSTALL all except the category itself - REBOOT - this refreshes the driver and the USB stack

This KB shows the XP how to and the Vista and Windows 7 methods are identical (and

Windows 8/8.1)

Here is a utility to help but do the above 1st.

USBDeview is a small utility that lists all USB devices that currently connected to your computer,

as well as all USB devices that you previously used. Run it Options and check the 1st three

choices to see if any are there.

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb\_devices\_view.html

You would remove all instances of the devices then reboot.

Remove ALL the USB devices you can and see if any of the on-board or plug-ins will

individually work.

If needed :

Try doing a "Refresh you PC without affecting your files" (or changing your personal

settings) or even a Restore.

Windows 8/8.1 includes special methods to Refresh (keep files and settings)  or a Reset

(new install removing all).
