Hi,

I have Amd Radeon HD 8470 graphic card on my desktop. I been trying to update it but the problem is every time I update it, it updates into AMD Radeon 7000... So it is going backwards, how is that possible ? How  do I update it without going back to radeon 7000?  And also now that I have downloaded Amd catalysis suite I tried after that opening Dxdiag but it crashes sometimes and when I looked after downloading the Amd Catalysis My Directdraw is disabled and my direct3d disabled for some reason, even though before they were all enabled. How can I fix all these problems?? Please someone help... I just updated to windows 8.1.

I have an issue with an Acer PC. I upgraded to Windows 8.1, and my graphics went to ****. looks like Windows 98. I tried to install an update from AMD, but it failed.

I cannot find the software in Control Panel - Programs Features either. There were however, some files in my Program Files, relating to this program, so I used the install that failed earlier, and selected the Uninstall feature, which seemed to remove the programs (odd), so then I seemed to get my full screen back.

That was until i accidently uninstalled the Intel Desktop Control Centre from my system. I tried to use System Restore to get it back. It didn't work, and now I am back to looking at what seems to be 22" of visible windows screen instead of the 27" I should (and used to be able to) see.

I just went to the Amd website and downloaded the Amd catalyst from there. Then i went to windows and went to control panel to the advance settings of the screen resolution and after i installed my amd catalyst the driver was Amd Radeon hd 7000 instead of my graphic card which is 8470. My computer is Acer xc600

    Hi Jaces,

    1. How did you try to update the driver?
    2. Are you able to update other device drivers?
    3. What is the make and model of the computer?

    Let us follow these methods:

    Method 1.

You may use the AMD Driver Autodetect software and check if this helps. Once the latest and updated drivers are installed the issues with Amd catalysis suite might also get fixed.

AMD Driver Autodetect detects your graphics card and Windows Operating System. If there is a new driver, the tool will download it with a click of a button and start the installation process. The Autodetect tool is designed to detect only Windows operating systems.

    AMD Driver Autodetect: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool

Note: AMD Driver Autodetect detects your graphics card and operating system and tells you if a new driver is available. If there is a new driver, the tool will download it with a click of a button and start the installation process.

    Method 2.

Drivers are updated occasionally. Windows can update them automatically, or you can install the updated drivers yourself. It's important for you to have confidence in the updated drivers you install. Windows notifies you if it detects a suspicious or unsafe driver you shouldn't install.

    Download and install drivers: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-8/all-drivers

Reply with the status of the issue and we will be glad to offer our assistance.
